Once in a lifetime opportunity

On more than one occasion someone has asked me ....how does Brandon get to do all of the things he does? His famous line to me is "dear this is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY." He seems to come up with at least one or two of these a year.... "Free" trip to Las Vegas, Packer game at Lambeau, summer Olympics in Atlanta, Canadian fly-in fishing trip (all expenses paid), Outdoor Wisconsin vs Ohio State hockey game at Lambeau, NHL All-Star game, going to a social event with MN Wild players, etc, etc.

Well I've started to apply this to other situations in our life. Tonight was a prime example. Brandon called and asked if Teagan would like to be in the Holidazzle parade. Keep in mind it was about 5:10pm when he called and we had to be downtown Minneapolis by 6pm. On top of the short time frame Teagan had an action packed weekend with our good friend Sha and was sleeping, so was Bryce. I hesitated for a moment thinking it was insane to try and wake up two sleeping kids and get to Minneapolis in 45 minutes. But then the ONCE IN A LIFETIME came out... how could I say no to that.

So I went to check on Teagan and she had just woken up. I told her to get her snow pants and boots on quickly and she could be in a parade. She heard that and no additional motivation was needed. I ran upstairs...gently picked Bryce up and put him in his car seat. Of course all of the commotion woke him up. I made Teagan a quick sandwich to eat in the car and made Bryce a bottle to feed him later. We were in the car and on our way. I parked in a hotel parking lot, put Bryce in the stroller and Teagan and I started to run to the parade start. We made it! Teagan boarded the Fan Zam that Brandon was driving and off they went.

The plan was for me to meet them at the end of the parade route to pick Teagan up. As soon as the parade started Bryce and I headed back to the car. I pulled up to the pay booth and the sign said "Not Staffed". I thought maybe I'd get out of there for free....not the case. As I got closer the sign said use hotel key to get out or pay at the front desk. So I put the car in reverse, parked in an employee only parking spot, got Bryce out of the car and ran in to pay my $6 ($3 cheaper then a block down so at least I saved a few dollars). Back Bryce and I went, found Teagan and Brandon at the end of the route and made it home with plenty of time before the Vikings game started (The one and only thing I try to plan for myself every week).

Long story short Teagan loved every minute of the parade...being in the Holidazzle is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY and I'm glad I was able to make it happen for her....The things we do for our kids.

Preschool Holiday Party

It was the holiday party for the parents today at Teagan's preschool. We did projects, had cookies and punch, the kids sang songs for us and did a little puppet show.

Teagan and dad doing a project together.

Teagan made us an ornament with her picture. Very cute.

Most of the class.

The girls Teagan spends most of her time with.

Mrs. Clause came and read them a story and gave them a manger ornament.

It was very fun and special for both of us to focus all of our attention on Teagan!

Holiday Dance

Reese and Teagan's dance class had a little holiday show for the parents. Emily and I were the 2 mom's in charge of the seven 3 and 4 year olds. They were all very well behaved while they waited. Thank goodness it moved quickly! They were really cute!!! Didn't remember most of the dance but were really cute trying to figure it out.

Reese and Teagan's 1st dance show 12/12/09.

A picture is worth 1,000 words :-) By the time it was over the girls were DONE and ready to go!
